2000s

The (late) George Smalley started Smalley's Produce in 1946 by selling potatoes door-to-door at restaurants on Queen St. in Toronto.

It started as a small operation, with a few pieces of equipment and customers. It wasn't long until George's son, (the late) Phil Smalley started farming.

A FAMILY OF
FARMERS

George's and Phil's love for farming followed onto the third generation, Michael Smalley, who is now the head of the operation today.

Phil grew the operation in the 1970s as a large food service provider of fresh potatoes. All the while, Michael was learning the ins and outs of the farm from Phil and George.

WHERE IT ALL STARTED

SCALING THE
OPERATION

Today, Smalley's Produce is a large-scale operation sending out 30 million pounds of potatoes a year.

Michael grew the operation expanding our land base and using technology to become more efficient. Michael's sons, Mitchell and Kellen Smalley have followed in the family's footsteps and proudly work on the farm today.

We have customers today that we have been in business with for the four generations of our family.
